Description:
One of a set of kneelers designed by Doreen Dean on local themes and stitched by local ladies in the early 1980s. This design is based on an old photo of the Smockmill which can be seen on this site, under 'Mills'. |

This monument on the west wall of Mulbarton Church used to be topped by an hourglass sculpture made of wood and stone. |

| Turner Grave |

Description:
This stone by the east wall of the church marks the grave of John Turner who died 10th March 1875, aged 90. Elizabeth, his second wife, died 8th Aug. 1824 age 31. John Turner lived at Paddock Farm. |

| Bellairs' Grave |

Description:
The pink granite grave of Sir William Bellairs of The Lodge, Rectory Lane. It is in the churchyard, east of the church. Sir Bellairs lived from 10th Oct. 1797 to 2nd Oct. 1863. |

| Bellairs' Battles |
|
|
|
|
Description:
One side of the grave of Sir William Bellairs lists the battles in which he fought with the 15th Kings Hussars. These were in the Peninsular War against the French and culminated in the Battle of Waterloo. |

| Chapel Foundation |

Description:
Although no longer a Methodist Chapel, the foundation stone can still be seen on the small brick building opposite the pond. It shows that work started in August 1899. |

| Charity Land Notice |

Description:
This notice from 1833 informs people of proper procedures for the administration of charity land. The Rich's Trust still holds land in the village that is rented out for allotments and the income used to make small grants to needy parishioners. |

| Turner family tree |

Description:
A plaque on the south wall of Mulbarton Church gives a list of the Turner family of Mulbarton from Tudor to Victorian times. The Turners lived at Kenningham Hall and Paddock Farm. |

The Turner family are listed on this marble scroll on the south wall of Mulbarton Church. Many members of this family were Churchwardens. |

| Porch Roll |

Description:
Above the church door, sheltered by the porch roof, is a beautifully inscribed board listing all the men in the parish who served in World War 1. Those who died are in gold lettering. See the 'War' section for more information. |

Description:
The clock on the tower of Mulbarton Church is the World War 2 war memorial. It was purchased by public subscription and is now maintained by the Parish Council. Further details in the 'War' section. |

| Bread Charity |

Description:
This stone plaque on the west wall of the church gives the terms of the Benjamin Benet Bread Charity. Money was left to make a gift of bread to the poor of the parish. The charity still exists, but its annual income today would only buy a small loaf |

The Lany monument in the chancel of Mulbarton church is a memorial to a former rector with a long-lived wife and daughter! |

| East Window |

Description:
The east window of Mulbarton Church, above the communion table, contains a number of pieces of old glass that were brought from Martham Church by a former Rector. |

Some of the glass in this window on the south side of the Chancel came from an abbey in Germany. It was bought as a 'job lot' by a glass merchant in Norwich and sold on to Norfolk churches. Mulbarton seems to have acquired a monk and a nun... |
